Advice

HEC's Europe Unit provides its clients with tailor made advice focused on challenges from, and opportunities in, Europe for Dutch Government organizations. Such advice can be managerial, but can also have a more narrative character. Different types of advise are recognized following a Taking, Shaping and Sharing approach:

Taking
Concerns those developments coming from Europe that influence Dutch Government organizations such as the Services Directive, Inspire, The Prum Treaty etc.

HEC has amongst others assisted the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of the Interior, Geonovum, the RDW etc. in assessing the impact, and developing approaches, for these Europe driven developments.

Shaping
Instead of a reactive approach to European developments one can choose to actually shape European developments through active engagement in the European arena.

HEC has assisted in several proposals for the 7th framework programme of the European Union and has coordinated and performed several European bench learning endeavors amongst others for PIP Personal Internet Pages and GBO.Overheid regarding DigiD (Authentication scheme). Together with BPR and Burgerlink, HEC also organized the “Trust and Identity management” conference in 2007.

Sharing
Most countries in Europe face similar challenges if it comes to ICT, eGovernment and governing these developments. Much can be learned from the approaches of our fellow Member states.

HEC organized several Study trips and work visits to f.e. the UK, Denmark and Austria for ICT Office, The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom relations and the Forum Standardization.
